Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy Statement

I.S.K.A Australia is committed to provide a safe and healthy sports environment.

We recognize that alcohol or drug misuse will impair an individual’s ability to perform in a safe manner.

It is the policy of I.S.K.A. Australia to protect its members, assets, the community and the environment in which it operates from hazards arising from alcohol or drug misuse.

Consequently, we require the performance of anyone within the I.S.KA. Australia organisation whether a member, competitor, family, friend etc. and others to be unimpaired by drug or alcohol misuse whilst associated with any type of activities to do with I.S.K.A. Australia. The legal or unauthorized possession, consumption, sale or being under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs during any type of activity for I.S.KA Australia is prohibited.

We view drug or alcohol dependency as a medical condition and encourage any member, non-member or anyone associated with I.S.K.A Australia with a problem to seek confidential support and treatment.

Any person/s associated with I.S.K.A Australia found to be in breach of this policy shall be subject to removal from any events associated with I.S.K.A Australia.

The above policy is subject to anyone wishing to be in any part of business associated with I.S.K.A Australia.

ISKA abides to the MAIA Anti doping policy.

Health and Safety Policy/Risk Management Statement

1. This policy recognizes that the health and safety of all I.S.K.A Australia members or employees is the responsibility of all in maintaining a Health and safety environment within the organisation.

2. I.S.K.A. Australia acknowledges its legal, moral and social responsibility to provide a healthy and safe workplace/ training, and to secure the health and safety of its employees, members and visitors.

3. All members involve with I.S.K.A Australia must provide and maintain a safe training and equipment within the organisation.

4. It is the responsibility of all within I.S.K.A Australia to recognize the hazards occurring within the organisation, I.S.K.A. Australia will take every practical step to provide and maintain a safe and health environment for its members.

5. Members who run their own clubs and are in charge or own their own training facilities are:
Responsible for the effective implementation of their company or dojo training facilities.
Health and safety policy must observe, implement and fulfill its responsibilities under the acts and regulations that apply to I.S.K.A. Australia.
Must make regular assessments of safety performances within their clubs facilities.
Must provide clear training instructions to all its members to limit risk of any injuries.

6. Students or Members within the I.S.K.A Australia organisation have a duty to take the care of which they are capable for their own health and safety and others. affected by their actions at training or when competing at tournaments.
Shall comply with the safety procedures and directions agreed within the Dojo rules.
Must not interfere with or misuse items or facilities provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare for all within the organisation.

7. ISKA Australia reserves the right to carry its own Risk Assessment with its members to achieve a health and safe environment within the organisation.

8. ISKA Australia abides by the MAIA/Work cover Risk Management Policies.

I.S.K.A Australia urge all its members to review their Health and Safety requirements at all times and for anymore information to contact Work cover within their State.

Committee Development, AGM Meetings Structure and Development of ISKA Australia Statement

1. AGM Meetings to be held Annually and review Structure Development within the organisation.

2. ISKA and its members meeting the responsibility within the Industry.

3. Voting rights within the organisation (Committees and policies).

4. Viewing if the requirements of the (ACS) Australian Sports Commission are meet.

5. Setting goals, objectives and polices.

6. Accreditation to be viewed and implemented within twelve months of being a ISKA Australia Member.

7. Guidelines and policies to be set and issued at AGM meetings or viewed through ISKA Australia web suite.

Member Protection Policy Statement

I.S.K.A. Australia, Members and affiliated clubs, branches and states, is committed to the Health, Safety and well-being of all its members and is dedicated to providing a safe environment for participating in Martial Arts Activities.

Abuse is defined as anything, which individuals or Organisations do, or fail to do, that directly or indirectly harms people or damages their prospects of a Safe and Healthy development. This includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, inappropriate training, inappropriate touching, Sexual abuse and neglect. (National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, 2000)

This Member Protection Policy conveys a message to all I.S.K.A. Australia members, and prospective members, responsible for Martial Arts Activities, particularly those involving members under 18 years of age, about minimizing risk exposure of those members. All I.S.K.A. Australia Members, particularly age managers, coaches, officials, trainers and management personnel, have a responsibility to provide safeguards dedicated to the well being of all other members.

The abuse of youth members, by other members or external source, is not acceptable. I.S.K.A. Australia encourages all incidents of such abuse, as described in this policy, to be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. I.S.K.A. Australia supports the designation of such authorities by the respective state, branch and club affiliates of I.S.K.A. Australia in a protective procedure for handling inappropriate behavior by an I.S.K.A. Australia member or external influence.

The I.S.K.A. Australia (Board) continues its support of the development of specific procedures and processes for addressing member protection in each state, in accordance with I.S.K.A. Australia Policies and the laws of that state.

ISKA abides by the MAIA Members Protection Policy.
